Strath Scholo and Pristine Black Diamonds

So every Pally out there will know my pain. I have gotten to the point in my epic mount quest where I need a Pristine Black Diamond. I figured I would be able to get one off of the AH. However I was sorely mistaken. Asking around on my realm I discovered they are rarely in the AH. This leaves me the option of grinding to get one. After reading online a bit it sounds like hitting Scholo or Strath is the way to go. I am wondering however if I would be able to do it yet. I have a Pally, Priest, Mage, and Lock all level 60. I have done some of the quests in Hellfire so I have gotten some pretty good gear from quest turn ins. I am however worried about the number of large pulls in there. I have an AoE strat where I lay down Concecrate, Hellfire, Holy Nova, and Arcane Explosion which I can noramlly blast down 3-4 mobs with, but with the mobs in there being elite I am again worried about having a wipefest. So I would love some advise from the awesome people on these forums. Do you think I can take Scholo or Strath? Should I wait till like 61 or even higher? Would this be the best place to try and get the diamond? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Depending on your real-life financial circumstances you could also roll up an alt on a server where they are common on the AH and transfer into your server. Its like Fedex =P

With 4 locks or 3 mages this is much easier to farm it. My advice is farm the dark runes and offer trade for runes for black diamond. runes drop most of first 3 rooms of scolo. You could always get the pvp AV mount and then all 5 would have the same mount. it takes 60 tokens from av. And since AV weekend is up and comming this weekend. Go for it

Not too mention the pally mount quest is heavilly bugged atm. If you have 100% mount skills already you dont get the spell, no you need to wait for the mercy of gm's (AND THAT TAKES LONG >.<. But prolly worth it in the end :P

1 thing is for sure, its cheaper to get the charger instead of getting 100% mount skills first and do it @ lvl 70.

you can reuse the mats from another lock, that would save you 150-200g ? For the pala you need to give gold to npcs some fees are up to 150g iirc

Too bad you're not on my server, I have at least a dozen PBD's on a bank alt from power leveling in Stratholme.

Fursphere you are thinking of the normal Black Diamonds (which are nearly worthless - can't even vendor), you need a Pristine one for the epic mount quest.

Ask in trade channel. They're really only used for the mount quests (and a few of the librams for twinks) so the demand for them is quite low and you're lucky to get a gold or two for them. I've got a full stack of 20 that I gave up trying to sell, if you're on Skywall I'd be glad to donate one (or however many you need.)

I'd honestly be surprised if you can't find someone with one in their bank or on an AH mule within a day or two.

Strat undead-side(baron) and Scholo drop them.

Easiest of the two is Scholo, however I had them more frequently during my baron runs. (Wishful thinking on the mount dropping. :P )

If you go Baron tho, realize that the place is crawling with patrols. (Darn bats that have a ranged attack and are keen to aggroing all mobs around them when they aggro.) As well as an eye, which works very similar to the gnomeregan alarm bot. Don't kill it fast enough, and it will spawn two or more bats. Stratholme baron side is all about pulling entire zones back to one place to clear enough, then clear off all the patrols and continue onwards from that. It might also be a coincidence, but I had them dropping from the acolytes most of the times. (non elites that are in the houses behind every boss, which you need to kill in order to get the gate open.)
Strat baron is basicly four bosses, then the gate event, which is pretty hard actually, you have to mow down a lot of big-ass mobs, and upon the last kill, the boss will come, after the boss, a lot of non elite skeletons will come. (This part screws over a lot of people. :P Though with a prot pally and a mage, you might find this easy.) And on top of it all, after that 5 elites spawn. And if you wipe during any of these, you're pretty fucked.

After those last five elites, it's just baron to go though.

Entering stratholme baron-side the first time has to be done via the normal entrance, where you will need to clear some large packs of undead mobs and keep going 'right' until you open the gate that gives you a 'buff'. That's the 'entrance' to the way to the baron.


As for Scholomance. If you don't have the key. Start a duel just outside the building, then run the two chars that duel each other through the building up to the top. dps one of the duellers down to 1, have him jump off. He dies. Corpserun and walk through the locked door as a ghost, res on the other side and use the candle on the wall to open the door for the rest. You don't need the key anywhere inside. The instance inside is quite straight forward. Past the whelps there's rattlegore, which is a pretty hard hitting boss, the mobs there if they frenzy can hit for loads as well, that boss drops the viewing room key which you can use a little back to enter the final stages of Scholomance.
