Default Can you summon party members back to a dungeon if you hearth after pop?

I vaguely remember in Vanilla/BC having a summons pop and then hearth-ing and doing stuff real fast and then taking the summons before it expired (something like 2 minutes max). I remember doing that on both my Warlock casting the summoning as well as doing that on the other party members...

If that is still how it works then you could use a single Warlock to get everyone's (including the Warlock himself) inventory cleared & gear repaired if/as needed without running back and forth and should be able to do it right outside the instance.

Can anyone confirm that the above is true/working on live Classic?

While you are in an instance can you summon someone in the same instance (like at the beginning) to your location in an instance (even if you are at the end)?

If summoning when everyone is inside the same instance works, can a Warlock, while in an instance, summon someone (including themselves) also inside the instance, and after it pops can they hearth out of the instance and sell/repair real quick and then take the summons back into the instance?

I ask in part as I was reading a guide and found the following quote and it got me thinking back to Vanilla and how things should be working on current Classic and the wording was a little vague:

"... Having a Warlock is extremely useful in these cases, as they are able to summon players back to the dungeon. Warlocks can even summons themselves, then HS out and accept the summon once done selling. ..."

Haven't confirmed the ability for a warlock to summon itself, but for the instance summoning, as long as the toon is inside the instance, you can summon from the entrance, afaik there is no range limit, just being zoned in is enough. Handy for a warlock/priest team if the priest dies, and at least 3 locks live or have soulstones ready after a wipe. Not sure if you start a summon while inside an instance, then hearth, if it lets you go back into the instance. For bag clearing, I usually just run outside, hearth 2 at a time, just to be safe. I have 4 warlocks and 1 priest, so I haven't had to summon myself, but It would definitely be good to know if it works. I'd have to turn off EMA auto accept of summon requests though.

Great thanks for confirming summoning inside an instance works.

If you can test the other scenarios that would be great.

I am especially interested in testing scenario of summoning self/party member inside an instance but not take the pop and instead quickly hearth/sell/repair and then take pop and end up back in the instance. Even if it only works for a party member a party of 2+ Warlocks can chain to get everyone... Could be a huge boon to a group on a server dominated by the enemy faction (especially in phase 2+).

    I can confirm the following:

    1) you can summon yourself as a warlock like you mentioned: summon self, hearth, do whatever, and click before expires if you're outside an instance
    2) you can also summon members to anywhere within the instance, as long as everyone is in the instance.

what doesn't work is: you cannot be in an instance and summon, hearth, and hit the summon before it expires. It'll give you an instance error and you'll be stuck.

I can confirm as well that:

-You can summon yourself, hearth, repair/sell, then accept the summon to return before it expires

-You can summon anyone inside an instance as long as they are also inside the instance

-You cannot summon yourself or party members while being inside the instance, hearth, then return. It will fail with an error

Going to have to deal with the PvP outside BRD/BRS like the rest of us lol! I use a druid tank so I usually go outside with him first to make sure it's safe. Bears can easily absorb a ton of damage during the zoning screen and can easily get out of roots/slows to get your ass back inside if you get jumped on

However what you can do is go outside the instance, summon yourself, then go back inside the instance to hearth safely and still return. Learned this the hard way when I summoned myself, started hearthing, then got jumped by 5 ally coming out of the instance lol. After that I always ran back inside the instance to hearth so that wouldn't happen again.

    Daviddoran, Shinkux, & CokeZero,

Thanks for running the scenarios to the ground and especially CokeZero for adding that last one (hearth inside and still return) which I had not heard/thought of before.

Not as insanely OP as I was thinking but certainly still a ton of utility for a team.

good to know.. i was contemplating two locks in my second team for this exact reason.. im on PvE server ( Windseeker) so the PvP thing is not an issue. So one lock will be enough 8)
