Default Macro help, Assist using exact name.

Well I started a new team, and named them as follows

    Stomper
    Stompera
    Stomperb
    Stomperc
    Stomperd

    If I try this:
    /assist Stomper

The toons each randomly assist one person, seems as long as the name starts with stomper they dont care.

Is there a way to Assist using an exact name match? I dont want to use Party1 or Focus unless I have to.

Also I understand I could use this:
    /targetexact Stomper
    /assist

But adding that to every spell cast seems odd, like there should be a single command.

/targetexact is one I have used in the past; maybe /assistexact works as well. Can't hurt to give it a go.

Edit: yeh, maybe your second post is better, /assistexact seems a bit 'pie in the sky'...

Well you should not have named a guy a subset of the rest in the first place:

    my guys are all

    samdeathw

Then a letter telling their class (K for shaman though) then a two letter code telling which computer they are on and then what position in the group on that computer:

Samdeathwkab means a shaman on upper left computer in the 2nd position.

The @ modifier is implicitly "targetexact" is what you're saying? Have you tried this with, say, two characters in the group named Donk and Donkette, where /cast [@donk] blah when Donk is out of range does not target Donkette?

I'm affraid either one of us is drunk.

First you tell him not to use the first part "stomper" on all characters and then you go ahead and explain how all your characters start with "samdeathw" I guess I fail to see that stomper" is inferior to "samdeathw."

I just went and changed all their names to Stomper but for the slaves I replaced the e with one of the various letters with squiggly lines over them.

I think Sam's point was that, for the purposes of scripting:

    Stompera
    Stomperb
    Stomperc
    Stomperd
    Stompere

is better (i.e.: does not suffer from partial name completion issues) than:

    Stomper
    Stompera
    Stomperb
    Stomperc
    Stomperd

    I guess that makes sense.
