I think that this is true. One person was complaining that it was a 6% difference, and that it was huge. Another person crunched the actual numbers for 12 pieces for (I think) a DPS warrior, and the difference was about the equivalent of... a bracer. An ilevel 316 bracer, to be precise. It was kind of underwhelming, to be honest.

There are a few other things to consider:

1- This last couple of weeks were handled in an awfully sloppy manner by Blizzard. First, they do the conquest/honor conversion a week before they had planned, and lots of players got left hanging. Then they make this recent switch without warning, leaving players feeling as if they wasted their time. It's just a terrible way to manage your game. I don't think that I had ever felt that Blizzard took its players for granted until this past two weeks.

2- I'm not much of a grinder, in that I have my limits and I respect them. I earned enough honor over the weekend to upgrade around eight items, and could have gotten the rest. But there is only so much grinding I can handle, so I stopped. Since it was AV weekend, I was able to get more upgrades for the time spent. But I'm not feeling as bad as others are because I didn't force myself to play past the point where it was no longer fun.

3- Which points to (yet another) problem with how Blizzard handles PVP. In spite of any methods they use to try and slow the progression of gear in PVP, players know that they can grind out full sets in a short time and thus they do so. So when a screw up like this happens, a lot of players feel it. Telling them that it's their own fault doesn't make matters any better. Still...

4- This points to a problem with players, as well. Many players are angry because they insist that their full set of i365 gear is "OBSOLETE." That's because they feel that now, other players will grind out 371 gear and they'll be behind the curve. Well now, two things: one, the difference in gear is small, you're not losing arena games because the other guy had an extra bracer's worth of stats. Two, if Blizzard hadn't done this, you'd have had an edge because you decided to grind out a full set before the other guy did, at which point you'd be telling him to "suck it up."

5- And finally, another reason I'm not too upset with this for my own sake: I don't run arenas, and I have not run RBGs yet (though a guildie is looking to start a group for that this week). So this change doesn't hurt me much. And frankly, I would guess that more than 75% of the people crying on the WOW forums aren't doing arenas or RBGs either. I checked the profiles of some of the people complaining, and they had zero RBG rating and no arena teams. So they're pissed that their vanity gear says "365" instead of "371." Because it's not going to make a difference when you run normal BGs and daily quests, which is what they'll be doing with their epic PVP set.

So to summarize: Blizzard royally fucked players over the past two weeks. Lots of players have a legit beef over this. Lots of other players are complaining because that's what they always do, but this change won't make any difference to them.

Just did the math for my ele shaman who was full vicious. Used wowhead -> compare items and compared 365 piece with it's 'new' 371 counterpart. Did Total Sum with and without weapons.

Reality is that when you play with the 371 gear that you play with an extra 'bracer' as you described, or any extra item slot. Minimizing that difference means that you also minimize the difference between tier 1 and 2200 weapons in a season,

The difference between 365 vs 371 gear is bigger than the difference in previous season between 359 and 372 (2200) weapons. And generally those weapons are considered as 'making a huge difference'.

I find the difference quite huge myself, and definitely worth farming before jumping in arena. If you compare a player with and without the 371 gear, it's not only the increased damage, but also increased health pool and opponent healer who have to heal more. It's like increasing your pay check and decreasing the rent at the same time.

I really don't get where all this fuzz is about. New season = new gear. Always happens. So you know that if you farm the weekend before the new season starts, new gear will be availible in a couple of days. Now instead of releasing new gear, they upped the stats on the old one.

So where is all the fuzz about really? I guess normally you can't buy the new sets with honor?

Positive thoughts - I'm going to get a ton of maelstrom crystals out of the old set!

Since you are a dutchie i'll explain it slow and gentle:

In previous season: 352 was honor (random bg's) gear, 365 conquest (arena, rated bg's).
Withe 4.2 they made 365 available for honor.
Yesterday they changed their mind, removed the 365 gear from the game and replaced it with better itemized 371 gear, also available from honor.
Yesterday the new conquest gear, with ilvl 384 was also released.

So people were under the assumption that last week 365 was the gear to farm for alts, or for mains who were missing pieces from the previous season. But blizzard basically removed the gear from the previous season and replaced it with a new line of honor gear, together with a new line of arena gear.

the 365 gear is still availible at vendor in orgrimmar?
The 371 gear is sold in dalaran for the same costs I think, which has no requirement either?

Oh and I farmed a full vicious set the last week. all 365. Knowing that atleast neck/cloak/wrist/belt/feet/rings/trink would be upgraded in a week, since new season = better gear availible.

Yars, I am all 5. I did terrible against you. Up until that point I was 6-0, I was getting a lil' excited about getting the 10-0 hot streak, lol.

When I saw 4DKS 1Pally pop up on Gladius, I didn't even know what to do to counter.

haha, it must have sucked for other people, 2+ boxers queing up last night, same comp. haha

Haha, yeah. I saw 4 DKs + Holy Pally pop on my gladius and told my partner to blow everything or we would lose.

I managed to kill your Paladin right off the bat - got caught in my arcane torrent spam.

I was 8 - 0 after that match, but got a losing streak right after and logged for the night.

This is the second time I've faced another boxer in 5s. The first time is was 4 DKs + Priest in full Vicious and I only had 1/2 Vicious. I lost two toons right off the bat, but managed to pull off a win.

    Nope, it's gone.

What bugged players is that this was a change from the way they normally do it, which was compounded by the recent screw up with the conquest-->honor conversion. Based on a blue post from yesterday, it was supposed to go like this:

1- A week before the new season, conquest would be converted to honor and allowed to go over the honor cap of 4,000. Season 9 conquest gear would be made buyable with honor.

2- When the new season began, all previous season's gear would be removed and replaced with new honor/conquest gear, and any remaining honor past the 4,000 cap would be converted to gold.

3- Thus, players who were building up conquest points during the previous season would have been able to buy any pieces that they had missed for the previous season, and everyone would start farming honor/conquest for the new items.

    What actually happened was this:

1- A week before the new season, conquest points were converted to honor and any points over the 4,000 cap were converted to gold.

2- Season 9 conquest gear was made buyable by honor the weekend before the new season. Four days later, the new season went live and season 9 gear was replaced by season 10 gear.

3- Thus, players who were building up conquest points during the previous season lost the opportunity to cash in those points for gear before the reset. They (and other players) farmed up honor during AV weekend figuring to get a leg up on the next season, since Blizzard had not specified that in a few days the 365 gear would be replaced with 371 gear sold for the same cost. When they logged in on Tuesday morning in their brand new sets of 365 gear, they found out that the four days of farming had bought them gear that they would begin replacing immediately.

    ---

As I said above, this is in large part Blizzard's fuck up. It was exacerbated by the fact that we (players) tend to grind like rabid monkeys when there is something available for farming (even someone as 'casual' as me has been doing the Firelands dailies from day 1, even though it was extremely crowded and crazy). Without the warning, a lot of people decided to grind out honor until they were ready to pass out, but if they'd known, they would've waited instead.

The downside to this for the rest of us is that now the random BGs have anywhere from 1-5 players who are just there to soak up honor. These days, I log in, run the PVP random daily until I get a win, then log off. Depending on who has the most leeches, that can mean I win on the first BG I run, or the sixth. Blizzard screw-up + lazy players who feel justified in leeching honor = less fun overall. If I was trying to farm honor to get pieces fast, I'd be going nuts right now.
