Sony Vegas 10 + H.264 encoding ?
Greetings!
I have major issues with encoding videos in general and it always takes weeks before I found/remember the solution how I did it last time..
My problem is encoding codecs.
Virtualdub can't find ffdshow H.264 encoder for example, neither can Sony Vegas 10.
I Installed latest ffdshow x64 and have tried lots of different guis with additional codecs, such as SUPER, autox264, x264vfw codec, ffdshow both x86 and x64 and so on..
I dislike the idea to install so called "codec packs" since those are always, firstly.. overkills, secondly.. misfunctioning things like normal movie watching..
Now I have this new computer and it's full of all kind of codecs, and yet, nothing works.
I'm about to install Windows 7 Ultimate x64 again to fresh partition and I would like to know in advance the name of H.264 encoding codec, how to install it properly, and so on.. so it would work with my favourite videoediting software Sony Vegas 10.
If anyone can point me to correct direction right at the start and in advance, I'd be happiest like ever.

I wish I could help with this but alas, I cannot. I haven't used Vegas in a very long time and when I did I
actually would encode using WMV. After switching to Adobe After Effects/Premiere, H.264 just seems to be
built-in with it.
I have used the K-Lite codec many, many times and have not found anything 'misfunctioning' as you mention
although, I'm sure I haven't utilized every codec in the pack itself.

Actually I found MP4Box and Yamb GUI for it, and it seemed to work nicely (though I had lots ot things installed, but after installing these two I could finally encode to H.264/AVC MainConcept.)
Made a fresh win7 enterprise install last night, and hoping I need only to install these two things to make things work.. let's see how it goes..
