Default New 2008 World of Warcraft Arena Tournament Announced 3v3

So has anyone looked into this with the idea of multiboxing it ?

I know 3v3 isn't our strong point but I know some people have experience in it.

In short (for those who haven't read the information) it's a 3v3 tournament with qualifier rounds place on new special servers, everyone uses pre-made characters with the same equipment etc so there is no worry about "who's got season 3 and who hasn't" etc.

Basically we can have an equal geared team of any class combination straight off - Could be interesting....

The tournaments are scheduled to start in April with two rounds of online qualifiers in Europe, South Korea, North America, and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.

If you make it to the round where you have to play on the WWI there will be a problem.

No 3rd Party software, Addons etc. allowed usually.

    multi boxing is 100% legal

but with everyone being given gear and there being no variation in gear allowed, no enchants etc... it will be fucking stupid.

I think as it stands right now, multiboxing is such an insignificant percentage of the wow population that Blizzard just really doesn't care. IOW, there aren't enough whiners out there to get on their radar. However, I for one am concerned what would/is going to happen if/when it gets a little more spotlight.

Look at the emo-fest that starts when somebody gets beat up for 10 minutes in a bg by a m-boxer, can you imagine the overflow of QQ if you won, or even placed well in a tourney where some real money and/or e-peen was at stake?

I know people disagree with me on this subject, but I personally try to stay a little low-key, be helpful to people (including not raping every spawn when I'm questing), and just generally not pushing it. Not saying go hide in a cave, just saying try not to invite people to focus their (negative) attention on us.

BTW, that reminds me of a post on here somewhere I read a few days ago (sorry, can't find it atm) where somebody said that they actually try to take time here and there in shat/orgrimmar to setup some formations, dance, stuff like that to engage people in m-box discovery in a positive way, which I thought was a great idea (and have since implemented it myself). The results have been pretty encouraging, I now find I have a few "friends" already, and if they're around when the "botter" patrol starts in, they will defend me. I encourage everyone to do this as well if you have time, it only serves us all as we go forward in these semi-new waters.
No matter where you go, there you are.

And by fucking stupid you mean completely fair and actually 100% about your **playing skill** like it should be, right?

no i mean fucking stupid due to the fact that no variation means that there will be no difference in anything. If you are only allowed pvp gear what if you want some PVE trinkets or wanna use some t6 gear instead?

making an even playing field does not make it who has the most skill... it is whoever has the most experience with that gear set and with teammates. Not to mention if you have almost exact gear sets you'll see mostly the same teams. I'd bet that lock/ms warrior/resto wins.

If you're playing the same video game with the same characters and the same gear, the only thing that's going to seperate you winning from losing is your's and your team's playing ability. I think it's the perfect way to host a tournament.

I think I see what you mean, though, about the gear variety. Maybe what they could do to that end is still use premade characters, but give you access to gear vendors with the PvE gear on them. That way you can use a Void Star Talisman, for instance, on a warlock... or the ZA attack power/use:attack power trinket for warriors... or the Nigh-Invulnerability Belt from engineering. As long as everyone has access to the same gear, though. You know what gets me, though? I hope they don't host it liks WGS was hosting their 3v3 tournament -- you used premade characters, but they didn't have every RACE combo available. In some cases that makes a big difference in playstyle, so I hope they offer every race combo.

I don't doubt that a lock/ms warrior/resto team might win, or the current power house combo Rogue/Mage/Priest, but at least whoever wins you'll know they're excellent players. Why? Because everyone's playing the same game, and everyone can all form a RMP team makeup... but they did it better, and that's the difference. There are some clearly ideal makeups in 2's, 3's, and 5's, but there's also a clear difference between the guys playing those combos who can't break 1800, and those who are hitting 2400.

Sorry, I guess I'm ranting. I've had alot of friends QQ'ing lately, it must have gotten to me a bit lol. =]
