Question Extremely poor FPS on login screen

Hi all. I am attempting to start up multiboxing again after about a year's break, and I'm running into a bit of a stumbling block. I am having extremely low fps (around 1.2 fps) and I'm only on the login screen. I can barely type in my password or move my mouse cursor it runs so slow. If I log in, i can't even walk at all. Maybe like 1 step every 15 seconds. Now back when I used to multibox a year ago, I could do it no problem on pretty high settings. Since then, I've added a SSD and upgraded from Vista to Windows 7, but otherwise the same computer. I use ISboxer and I'm trying to play 5 toons at once in Wow. I'm totally perplexed at what could be causing this. Any suggestions as to what could be the culprit? Some kind of setting somewhere? Let me know if you need any additional info.

I believe its because the dragon is quite graphic intensive... if i were you i would change the wow login background to the pre-tbc one (i have it like this atm) it reduces lagg significantly. im sorry i dont have a link but i am sure that google can help you (i think i got my link off a youtube video)

Still low FPS if you try running less accounts at the same time ?

Is the graphic card properly powered ? A few months ago, I started having similar issues and when I opened the computer I realized the power cord had moved a bit over the time and wans't plugged properly anymore. After i plugged it back problem was solved.

Also, make sure the drivers are all up to date (especially graphic card). Try deactivating aero stuff.

Thanks for the replies. I checked my video card but it was plugged in properly. Good idea though since I had been messing around inside recently and it was certainly a possibility.

I played around with some of the video settings in Wow. Set multisampling to x1 on all 5 accounts and that cleared up the login screen lag. Went up to about 40 fps after I did that.

But I still was only getting about 5 fps in game. I changed another video setting. I clicked the box that says vertical sync. That got me to about 30-40 fps.

But I'm still getting real low fps (2-3 fps) in cities and certain other places. I know I did not suffer from this poor fps last time I did multiboxing, so there's got to be some other settings or something else that's killing my performance.

Would love to hear any other suggestions on what I might try.

If you had multisampling set above 1x I can only imagine that you're attempting to box at Ultra-like settings across all accounts, which isn't even possible. I don't even single box with multisampling set above 1x, and I run a mediocre system. People around here multibox with i7 processors and don't set their settings that high, it's not feasible if you're running multiple games on one machine.

It sounds like you've been successful at turning down your video settings and getting better results [not a surprise]. I would only suggest that you continue to do just that. When you hover over a video option you can indeed see whether it greatly impacts performance or not. Reduced Input Lag, Shadows, Texture Filtering, Multisampling... turn all of that shit down. View Distance also greatly affects your FPS.

Only you can find the right video settings that will make you happy on your machine.
