Pally tank 969 macro with Super Duper Macro

I had to setup my new pally's macro when he hit 75 and I have a good 969 macro that opens with consecration so you don't lose aggro at the start.

This should refresh everything as soon as the spell expires. I am using SUPER DUPER MACRO so I can type longer macros. This addon allows you to make your wow macros longer. It's very basic and easy to use. It puts a tab on your macro ui to make things easy. To make this macro work you need to use super duper to extend the character amount. I've been seeing a lot more boxers on forums lately making the 969 macro a lot longer then whats really needed. What benefits come from making the macro longer like that?

I'm using that exact macro Zal posted. I agree that there's no reason to make it any longer, it hits everything it needs to when it needs to, as is.

I never open with consecrate because it's doing no good whatsoever ticking away under your feet while mobs are veeeery sloooowly coming to you after smacking them with Avenger's. It's a mana sink. If you're losing agro right off the bat, then reassess your rotation. Mine is AS, DP, SS all while DPS does nothing. I don't hit the 9696 or dps until mobs are on top of me.

I use consecration at the end of my rotation, and thus have it on a separate button to cast right before mobs arrive. Remote pulls i do with avenger shield, which is not in my rotation. Whenever during the fight a new mob spawns or when i would lose aggro by accident, I can still cast AS on that mob.

A full 969 rotation is 12 spells long without wasting a global cool down. For boxers where we control the whole group and how the fights go its not quite as important. Puging and raiding it becomes more important as you do not want to be standing there waiting for something to come off cooldown ever.

There are 2 spells on 6 second cool down and 3 spells on 9 second cool down. Consecration lasts 10 seconds and has an 8sec cool down so its one of our 9 scd spells and you have to put a point into improved judgements to get it from a 10scd to a 9scd. A full rotation without any spells waiting for cool down looks like this.

9a,6a,9b,6b,9c,6a,9a,6b,9b,6a,9c,6b Then the rotation repeats.

Your macro will run fine for the first iteration but once you go to cast JoL its going to get hung up on a cool down for a second or two. When you make a macro in game it lets you pick an icon. The very first one that looks like a "?" is a special icon that will change to match what spell is going to be cast. Use that icon and hit a training dummy and you will see that your waiting for spells to come off cooldown.

In the end as long as you make things dead, you're doing it right.

look at the macro compendium unto addons & Macros in the forums, I'm using that macro and it works a treat, no cooldowns, consecration 4th or 5th spell and uses avenging wrath to boot.

This is not a full 969 rotation your problem is at the reset

HS (9) - HoR (6) - C (9) - ShoR (6) - J (9) - HS (9) - HoR (6) - C (9) - ShoR (6) - J (9)

you can see that you are missing a 6 ability in between your last and first spell after a reset leading to an inefficient rotation with unnecessary wait time

A full rotation using your priority would be:
HS (9) - HoR (6) - C (9) - ShoR (6) - J (9) - HoR (6) - HS (9) - ShoR (6) - C (9) - HoR (6) - J (9) - ShoR (6)

I've removed Consecration from my rotation for heroics. If I am pulling a big pack (4+) I will manually consecrate once after the pull. I also run with retribution aura on and Seal of Wisdom and I rarely need to Divine Plea. However, my tank is pretty well geared, way over heroics level so take my comments in that context.

I also tend to pull with Hand of Reckoning these days and save AS for casters or ranged to keep the aggro on the tank.

If I shield pull I wait until they get close to begin attacking. I like having consecration down first because it aggro's any adds and keeps them on me. You guys should try it and compare the two. On my 76 pally everything is going off when its ready. I have not had any aggro problems yet.

If you want the button to be mashable, without interruptions for a full rotation, you need the full number of spells.

9a, 6a, 9b, 6b, 9c, 6a, 9a, 6b, 9b, 6a, 9c, 6b

Note how it runs 9a - 6a (in the first half) and then 9a, 6b (in the second half).
If its not the 12 spells long, you won't be able to cast a spell every GCD and keep all spells up all the time.

I like Consecration as my 2nd or 3rd nine-second spell.
So I can precast it, and have it ready by the time my sequence calls it (for AoE pulls).
And so, it something is dead fairly fast, I've not gone with the mana pig as an initial spell.
