    Default New Fishing Addon?

I'm no coder, so I was wondering if someone here could possibly write up an addon for fishing that has the following features:

    Low ram usage (very important)
Flashes the screen with a certain color (like Omen does when you gain aggro, but can possibly chance colors in a menu. colors are not important, but would help)
The screen flashes only when you have a hit on your bobber.
Option to turn on/off a certain sound file when it happens, like Silverdragon does when spotting a rare npc.

Forget all the other features, there are plenty of other fishing addons that tackle that.

This addon would help anyone but would really come in handy for us multiboxers that run one monitor. All I, or anyone using this would have to do, is zoom all the way in on each toon hit the fishing macro, if you put [nochanneling] in it, it won't reset the cast if you haven't caught anything yet. Or just set it to different keys or modifiers. Then click the bobber on the appropriate screen when it flashes. It'd make it easier to watch for a screen flash than a small bobber pop up and down.

I am not sure if the screen flash is possible as no event fires. I might be wrong though.

For "historical reasons" the fishing bobber is notoriously difficult to deal with:

It's not a targetable object, so interact with target won't work.
It doesn't generate any addon-hookable events, so there's no way of knowing it has done anything except by listening for the sound.

The best one could do is change the sound it makes to something more distinctive, but this doesn't help much for multiple windows, unless you make a different sound for each one.

You can change the sound. You need to put the new sound file in a specific location/name (cannot remember, but there's one "addon" that does just this replacement so you can use it to find where the file should be located)

    How does this help?

If you run each window from a separate installation, you can record 5 sounds saying "one", "two", .. "five" and put the files in the respective installation's filetree. You should also turn on the option to have sound from the client even when it's not the "in-focus" window, i.e. when it's in the background. The effect would be that when the bobber fires up you will hear your recorded sound telling you which window to "fish" it up from.

It's can get a bit busy as the timers are random, and you will miss some casts this way. But with the right maximizer setup you should be able to whack-a-mole fish pretty decently. Also use something like fishing buddy to make "easy cast" with double-right-click and it should be manageable.

That being said, I personally find that this method takes the soul out of fishing. Fishing is meant to be something peaceful that you do while half-afk (e.g. speaking on the phone, reading a forum, etc) This method requires a lot of attention and you will grow tired of it pretty quick. I have tried it but in the end I found it easier to level each toon individually. Takes more time, but you can use actual dead time to do it, no need to focus on it 100%.

As far as looting the bobber goes, I can easily do that with my Shift-Tab key which I have "Interactmouseover" bound to. Tab has "Interacttarget" bound to it. I use Shift-Tab to loot Mine veins and Herbs on my slaves without lossing focus from my main window. All slaves have Auto-Loot turned on as well, so I don't have to worry about that. But I didn't know about that addon that can change up the sound file, I'll have to look for that I guess, but I was hoping for an addon like I was asking about cause running sound on all accounts on my laptop would boost the ram usage alot more than an addon would, and I lag bad enough in Stormwind just running around. But if anyone could ask others outside these forums if it would be possible for this, I'd greatly appreciate it, as would alot of others I imagine. This would actually keep me aware and awake while fishing.
