    Default Considering a battlegroup change.

    Hey guys,

I've been on my home server of Sargeras since the launch of the game (5 years now) -- Shadowburn BG.

Lately however I think I've hit my peak on this group as far as 5v5 goes. Facing varations of the "wizard cleave" team now accounts for the vast majority of our 5s. Every night its the same thing over vent "wizard cleave again" -- its not uncommon to do nothing but wizard cleaves all night and I havevn't found a (new) reliable way of beating them.

We were at 1832 -- got weapons which was great and I'm now only 4 peices away from full relentless (I still have furious chest, legs, shoulders, helm) and last week I finished grinding out engineering to 400 for the pyro rockets which I really love in BGs.

Since then, we've regressed down to 1701. Tonight, only two teams queuing - a 2200+ wizard cleave that takes 1 point and a 1790 rated wizard cleave that takes 8 from us. Other teams may have to face their counter comp once every 4 or 5 matches but with us its over 95% of the 120 matches we do in an average week. Looking at arena junkies and sk-100 I can see that all of the top 100 teams are wizard cleave (well, 94 out of 100) so it may be no different but ultimately the problem is starting to look like I can't keep up and succedde against what we have to go against.

In short I'm considering a transfer to a different and yes, easier battlegroup (Shadowburn is rated #2 for top teams), because when you slowly move down its just not fun.

Lately, a good night would consist of getting 1200 rated teams, getting a point or none and then going against a 2k+ team and losing 6, resulting in a slow loss of 6-8 points every few matches. Even though we finished out 50/50 win/loss last week, we tanked our rating =P

Battlegrounds are fun but unfortantely just for fun -- I can trade the honor for gems but when you have such a vast amount its not really worthwhile (I have 7 epic flyers and a few multiperson vanity mounts).

So how's life outside? Is the grass really greener?

I'm not sure how Reckoning compares to the others, but I don't really like it. Seems like not enough teams playing, and you can't get a queue at all until primetime (other than the occasional new team at maybe 2pm server). We still play non wizard cleave over 2200 though, so I know it's not all wiz cleave. But yeah 80% of teams have warlocks, just have to deal with them.

My friend I used to play solo with still claims Cyclone is easy mode. They are good players, but they have managed 2500+ in multiple brackets every season. They get alts to 1800+ still in blues. I don't know about 5v5 or how it would be for boxers.

On Reckoning if we get a pool of 4 teams to play that's considered a busy night. Sometimes it's just 2 or 3. I can tell you if you xferred here you would play us like 5 times a night

Ultimately you need to have fun.
    Or what is the point?

There are several battlegroups out there to choose from.
Once you decide on one, then pick a server in the group.
I suppose that is a choice too.

I play on Cyclone, always have and its not easy mode. Its probably not as hard as some of the other Battlegroups at least in 3v3 its not.

As for 5v5 its probably just as hard as the others. The same teams seem to always be up top and they know how to beat Quad Shaman most of the time. Sanza plays on this battlegroup and is higher then I am so he could probably comment a little better to this.

I would think they would all pretty much be the same skill lvl wise. The only exception being bloodlust atm, its very active but alot of the very highly skilled players transfered to blackrock/tich. I would think transferring to a "New" BG with alot of newer servers would be best for "easier" competition. However, you may run into the same problem as heyaz and that it just a lack of a good mix of teams.

I could see blizzard at some point in the near future merging BGs in the same way they merged a number of EU battlegroups.

Also I would say that one of the most important things is play where your RL friends play.

My best advice is find a BG where as far as you can tell no boxers play. Just being able to get in there against teams who have no f'n idea what to do will go a rather long way, especially now that charging is a completely doable strat for us. I have found in the long run, the more often you play the same team the smaller you chance of winning becomes. Theres only so many stratagy's our team can pull off, and theres ways to counter all of them .. its just a matter of time until a good time figures them all out and start's taking you down over and over again. I make probably 90% of my points off teams I have played 5 or less match's against, the other 10% comes from some random high rated team that is apparently full of people who simply cannot learn what to do. So find a boxxerless bg, hit it hard for a couple weeks playing new teams .. so how far you go.

As far as Cyclone being competitive, its one of the most active bg's with some of the highest teams. For a boxer its a terrible idea because I have basically ruined it haha .. we've done well over 1500 games on my team since LK hit so theres a ton of people in this bg's arenas that know what to do very well.

I haven't been on Cyclone since season 2 but it was a joke back then. My friend claims its just as easy now. We ran the dumbest comps... arms warrior, mut rogue (when mut was terrible), and holy priest and easily got 2200. They replaced me with a mage later and who knows how high they got. These days every time I armory their toons they are all at least 2400.

Of course multiboxing is totally different

Pretty much true. Unfortunately some of the teams that have learned to farm us for free points are about 200-400 MMR lower than us, and we have to eat that all the time. Others around 2100-2300, we have beaten in the past but now that we've played them 10-20 times each, there's really no chance anymore. We can't beat them unless they make several huge mistakes. And even then they often pull it together somehow. You will ultimately have to significantly outplay every good team you play - period. There's not much room for mistakes.

I've put in over 1000 games on reckoning as a multiboxer, so I imagine most teams or players have seen us before and have an idea of what to do.
