    Default DK tank/dps castsequence macro

Basically i could use a macro that will maximize tanking (for the tank) and dps (for the dps). Heres what i've come up with so far as of just hitting lv 80. Tank DK has 10 epics, DPS DK has 9. Both dps tests conducted using no cooldowns. Ran a heroic and noticed that dps is only 1000 for tank, 1500 for dps. I'm thinking that instead of having the reset=nocombat it should be reset=target instead.

    Tank: spec 5/56/10
    2204 AP, 82 Hit Rating, 7.65% Crit, 16 Expertise.
/castsequence reset=nocombat Icy Touch, Plague Strike, Howling Blast, Blood Strike, Blood Strike, Obliterate, Howling Blast, Blood Strike, Blood Strike
    /cast Rune strike

lv 60 training dummy: 2289.4 dps
lv ?? training dummy: 1546 dps

    DPS: spec 0/10/61
    3157 AP, 206 Hit Rating, 19.63% crit, 8 Expertise
/castsequence reset=nocombat Icy Touch, Plague Strike, Blood Strike, Blood Strike, Scourge Strike, Scourge Strike, Scourge Strike

lv 60 training dummy: 3150.9 dps
lv ?? training dummy: 2225.7 dps

If anyone has any suggestions please post!

yes should be target since changing a target requires you to set up your disease rotations again. Just make sure that you dont change your target unless you absolutely have to... otherwise you will be waiting for runes to refresh.

on your DPS rotation, what is your RP dump? That should add a big chank of damage

To offer a little more help, when I tanked with my DK I used two buttons. One button was your rune using abilites (Icy Touch etc) and the other button was the rune power dump. Basically you mash the first button until your runes are on cooldown and you have a crapton of power and then mash the second button until you have emptied out your rune power. Seemed to work pretty well.

Not to be a smart-ass... and since I will be using your macro for my DK, please don't take this as a slight... but

Why the hell do I care about DPS on a tank spec? I want to know what the TPS is on that rotation. I haven't tanked with my DK yet, but I want to make sure that the rotation is generating THREAT, not deeps. I run with a DK tank, and his dps is usually pretty decent, but if he is topping our charts, we have PROBLEMS.

I will talk to my tank and see if I can get his rotation... he tanks as Unholy in Frost presence. I will post it here if I see him this week (friends irl)

because dps is related to tps. for a DK, this is very true as there are not many high-threat/low-dps moves (warrior's sunder, for example). a lot of the DK's threat is very closely related to his dps. of course, dps can only slightly guage what his tps would be, meaning, it gives him a clue as to how he can fare against others. playing a DK tank, i also use dps as a guide. if a dps on my Omen does about twice my dps, he'll more than likely pull aggro. currently, my dps is about 1.4k (unholy, mostly heroics geared, but varies depending on the group makeup and buffs/debuffs) so anyone close to 3k dps will probably pull aggro from me. done it, tried it. its about right. but not exact. and i have seen some dps who's lower than me but have been quite capable, just so long as the overall dps for everyone averages 1.2k (3.6k total) in heroics, or in 10naxx, minimum 1.8k (10.8k total) **thats minium dps times the number of dps'ers, not including tanks** then it should be cutting it close, but fine.

in regards to the rotation, some good suggestions were stated. add some runic power based spells and keep them on a different casting macro. you dont want your macro to hang and do nothing if you're short on runic power. for tanking, keep at least 40 runic power for your runstrikes and the rest can be wasted on whatever you desire (most likely death coil). dont forget death and decay.

one other thing to note is that your rotation will change depending on the types and number of mobs you face.

also, if you can, include your glyphs and we can all comment on that. lol

some things to note about me: i tank as unholy, so i really dont know the optimal rotations for your frost tanking dk. also, i cannot see the details of your spec so i dont know what you really have.
