Default Sexy Addon - Dynamic Performance!

    http://www.wowinterface.com/download...fanfix1.2.html

So I stumbled across this and tested it - I set my desired framerates @ 27 and lock my background clients @ 15 fps...

So what happens is when I focus one client the framerate lock comes off and this mod ramps up my settings so I have all the awesomeness I'm used to. And the ones in the background are locked below 27fps and the addon turns their settings down for best performance... giving more cpu/gpu/etc to the main client.

The only thing I don't like is how gradual it does the change, I'll probably hack into it and see if I can't double/triple the adjustment rate, but still it's a great find.

It's probably better to hack it so it changes the fps settings based on the area that you're in. Dalaran and wintergrasp -> low detail, rest of the world -> high detail

Why would you want to limit it that way? The mod KNOWS what your FPS is and adjusts based on your actual performance... The only thing is it adjusts slowly (like from no clip plane to max clip plane takes about 30 seconds, I'd like it to take 10.)

It's the classical controller problem. A controller that tries to correct a process by looking at the output of that process will always be too slow with its response measures. The add-on will only change the settings after it measures an increase or decrease in fps.
A simple area check would make the setting switch instant and it will also reduce framerate jittering when moving between high and low fps areas of dalaran.

Another way to do it would be to measure the average FR for a given area and adjust based on the historical value. That way you wouldn't have to manually tell it which areas get which FRs.

Sounds like a great addon. I'll have to give it a try.
