Thread: Using Numpad

  1. #1

    Default Using Numpad

I've become very attached to using numpad for healing. I tried once to map the numpad keys with alt/ctrl/shft modifiers to no avail. Anyone able to use this successfully? If so, can you share what I'm missing? I'd love to be able to double/triple my usage of numpad with alt/ctrl.

When you use shift/alt/ctrl on the numpad it changes them to the arrow keys and the home/pagedown etc.. keys ive used this before and worked pretty good except when i needed to use the mouse to target.
so in order to use them the way you want to make sure you dont have anything already bound to the arrow keys or Home,pagedown/up and END

I use the numpad for healing and totems for my DK 4x Shaman group. Shift does cause the keys to switch, but CTRL and ALT doesn't as far as I can tell. I also use CTRL + ALT + numpad key binds as well.

Just in case anyone is interested, this is one of the things that HotkeyNet can help with.

It allows you to define each number pad key separately for each left or right modifier or any combination of them, and for NumLock up or down.

That's a lot of combinations. Leaving out the ones that are impossible to press with two hands (like LCtrl RAlt NumpadPlus) but only including combinations like this:

    LShift NumpadEnter
    LAlt LCtrl NumpadEnter
    LAlt LCtrl Clear

HotkeyNet allows you to define 380 different hotkeys on the number pad.

But that's if we limit ourselves to the regular modifiers. HotkeyNet also allows people to define custom modifiers, which allows combinations like this:

    R NumPad7

If we include custom modifiers, it's possible to define tens of thousands of hotkeys on the number pad.

Microsoft Sidewinder X6 keyboard turns your Number Pad into a macro pad so you can assign any Key Combos to them. There is an extra "Calculator Key" you can assign a macro for 19 total plus you can also move it to the left side of the keyboard if you so desire.

I think they can be had for under 50 bucks. I like mine ok, not perfect for the way I want to play but if you love the Num pad I think it would be great for you.
