Default Saronite Mining at Level 70

I've been slacking on leveling my team, but wanted 450 mining so I could be using/selling the titansteel cooldown every day. I boxed Utgarde Keep to get my mining up to 400, but farming Cobalt at 70 is pretty easy anyway. I originally didn't think it was possible to get to 450 until I was in the mid 70's to head to Sholozar, but I found easy Saronite nodes in Crystalsong Forest (see attachment.)

There are 7 spawn points, with up to 2 nodes up at a given time (I believe the 2 eastern-most nodes belong to the Icecrown spawn group.) I've gotten Saronite, Rich Saronite, and Titanium nodes. There are ZERO npcs anywhere near the wall there, so you could probably get to 450 mining even before level 70 (there's no level requirement to train gathering skills.) There are 2 or 3 level 76/77 worg between the wall and the Dalaran crysal, but they're easy enough to avoid.

I generally afk my miner here while I raid, and after 3 hours I end up with around 4-5 stacks of saronite ore, a half dozen gems, and a titanium bar or two.

Nice, I'll have to keep that in mind.

Wintergrasp is also a great place to level 400-450, my warrior (70) is always in wintergrasp, I log him in every now and then and make a giant circle and farm some saronite/titanium.

dumb question... but how do you get to wintergrasp on foot?
or do i have to be summoned?

portal from dalaran, get summoned by lock.

portal from Dalaran, then in the zone on the far west edge is a Flight path. I usually run laps around the west half of the zone while the game is Not going on and can get a full stack of titanium ore and 10-15 stacks of saronite in about an hour. Maybe more now that mining is one tap, i havent mined much since the last patch.

could just use your flying mount and fly in. scholazar basin is best to farm saronite, if a ton of people aren't farming it there already.

You want to know whats more mind-numbing than doing this while raiding? Try farming enough Thorium to level 4 DKs blacksmithing and jewelcrafting to make it past 300. I leave my 80 shaman(that I dont play much anymore) in eastern plaguelands and he runs circuits. It took about 300 bars to get one through to 300 on his blacksmithing... only 3 more to go! Oh wait and then jewelcrafting. KILL ME NOW. I had to farm for about 12 hours to get those bars. /puke

I tried Wintergrasp last night, but there are high level mobs all over the place, most near node spawns. I got a stack of saronite and 1 titanium node but died twice in the process. Leveling mining to 450 just for the titansteel cooldown at level 70 or less is still easiest in Crystalsong.
