Skadi in Utgarde Pinnacle (normal)!!! Cannot even make it through the gauntlet

This guy is pissing me off. I make it the final 3 guys and them mow me down like water. I avoid the dragon breath fairly easy but the damn double caster of the last group smokes me.

I can't even make it to the boss to attempt him cause that guantlet is I swear impossible.....sigh...

Been trying all day.

I read the strats but I can't seem to get it down. They just overwhelm me in the end..5-6 adds and things go crazy.

It also seems the event resets for me all the time when I reach the end. Usually after 1 person goes down but sometimes even before that..

I don't get it.

Are your guys all 80? This is an 80 instance and I wouldnt recommend trying it until then. I did it first try(not trying to brag) as I just ran as far as I could down the walkway and picked up groups as they came burning them down AE style. I hugged the right side of the rail hoping to avoid dragon strafing AE. It was so hectic Im not sure I did,however dropping totems once in a while seemed to outheal it(on normal). Once at the end you just launch harpoons at the boss, make sure you grab them from the adds.

My shammies are 80 but my pally is only 79.

I managed to get to him last night but attempting to control the 2 adds and use the harpoon gun was hard. I would get him down but usually either 1 or 2 adds were still up and I couldn't gain control of the fight.

I do have the following items waiting for him at 80 though.

So hopefully those help me with Heroics and beyond. I'm thinking about attempting the JC Necklace/Ring but I don't really know if that is worth it cause those cost so much money.

My pally ATM has 535 Def around 19k armor without Stoneskin and Dev Aura on but only 15k health.

Try this...

Have all of your toons stay in the Trophy Room (previous boss). With your main, start the event and go back to the Trophy Room. Wait 10 seconds and the boss will despawn. Run down to the end of the gauntlet, turn left into the room where all the mobs come from. Have one of your toons (not the tank) run back to start the event. When the event starts, tank everything in that room. Kill everything and loot the harpoons. When all mobs are dead, run out and use 3 of the launchers when you get the emote that says the drake is in range.

Be sure to pick up the boss right away and good luck!

I read this in a few posts before and it does sort of sound like an exploit but I guess I should really try it anyways before it gets the nerf bat.

wow just wow... I used your strat and still wiped like 5 times. I can kill the initial mobs that spawn, however I could only get 3 harpoons in dragon before my guys started running out of mana. I kept having to heal them since I would use my tank to launch the harpoons and then run back in. Hmm I just thought of something, can you carry more than one harpoon?

You can carry a bunch of harpoons, and even reset the event or it may bug on you, and collect more!

I may go back and try getting everything in that room, and even though it sounds a little off... considering how many times this event has bugged on me I would consider it fair play. When it bugs you wind up behind him anyway.

It took me about 10 tries my first time just to down him on normal, though I am still in mostly questing blues, the problem was that the adds spawned too quickly for me to kill them if I wanted to position myself out of the ice and then make sure the healer didn't get aggro. I was spending too much time running around trying to survive.

I downed him by doing as others have said and camping out in the final room after gathering harpoons on a pull that I reset. Have one character start the encounter and then AOE tank like 20 mobs at once, blow your shield cooldown and AOE them down like mad, spam your biggest heal. Once those are dead, run the other toon back while trying to still hit some DPS and heal keys to keep the others going while you're running. Once you're all in the room, blow some DPS cooldowns and get everything under total control. Once you have everything going smoothly, just kill whatever spawns, and no worries about the ice. Run out and shoot him when you get a chance. Once he lands, it's tank and spank EZmode.

there is actually trick to the tank and spank portion. if youre using shamans, drop some scattered poison cleansing totems. it helps with the poison spear he throws.

also positon your shamans at max casting range from him because he does do a whirlwind where he ignores normal agro for awhile.
the trick to that part though is to let him start the whirlwind and he slowly starts whirlwinding towards your shamans. let him get about half way and then taunt him back towards you. you take no damage during the whirlwind and he just harmlessly goes back and forth. just hope your taunt doesnt resist.
