"Slowboxing" Poseidus

Ahoy!

Since Reins of Posedius now drops off Poseidus, I decided to start slowboxing for a while, and have set all my 5 Beeqs to 5 known Poseidus spawning locations. Should there be anything else I should know about?

I got NPCScan on each 5 clients (tracks everything, also completed achs)
I got sound enabled and sounds in background enabled on all clients, so doesnt matter which one alerts, I should hear it, right?
I got sound effects and everything else set OFF, since I think the NPCScan alerts, even without sound effects?
I got view distance set to ultra on all clients, however I think rares show even with weak view distance, so people with sucky computers have same chance to kill rares? Anyone confirm?

Wondering if this is too unfair against the other players, since multiboxer can really do these sort of things?

And is there any addon to prevent you afk offline?

All tips are very welcome, thanks in advance

Just be aware how NPC Scan works and make sure you clear your cache before you start your campfest, in case you've seen its corpse in the past...

This addon doesn't use nameplates or mouseover units to find rares. Instead, it checks your creature cache for the moment a rare mob is found. There is one catch to this technique however: Once a mob is “found”, _NPCScan won't be able to find it again until your cache is cleared. If you find a rare mob's corpse—Dirkee for example—you would have to clear your cache before _NPCScan would find Dirkee again. Thankfully, clearing your cache is a safe and simple matter.
Clearing Your Cache

To clear your cache, follow these straightforward steps:


Exit World of Warcraft.
Delete the “Cache” sub-directory inside your World of Warcraft folder. For example on a standard Windows XP installation, you would delete the folder “C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Cache”.

Advanced users can delete “C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Cache\WDB\enUS\creaturecache.wdb” specifically to improve log-in times, where enUS is your language code.




Note: Windows Vista and Windows 7 users see this info (http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/1567931274#16) if your cache isn't in the location above.That's it. Log in after you've done that and you'd be able to find Dirkee a second time. It's completely safe because WoW will recreate your Cache folder after you log in again.

then when you hear the sound just smash the button!

Just when the coord areas are shown as x,y and vash'ij is more likely x,y,z there is a great chance that:



Poseidus is out of range



You're not facing Poseidus


Even though I'm on a crowded server, I haven't seen much competition there so far, so there is a great chance to tag the bugger even in a mid-movie after hearing the sound ;)

Do you have information about what if NPCScan alerts, and I miss the alert for any reason and someone kills, loots and skins/corpse disappears, then will the alert stay as long as I stay online?

The alert window pops up when it detects the model loading and I don't know what happens if you're not at the PC, as I've always been flying around actively hunting - on the few times it has detected a corpse, I then have to logout and clear the cache to get it working for that critter again - if you have ever seen the NPC, you have loaded its model into your cache and NPC Scan won't work for that creature again until you log out of WoW and delete your cache files, as detailed above. Even if you get there and see a dead corpse of the NPC in question, you still have to clear your cache, after the corpse has decayed, naturally.

NPC Scan is great, though - my huntard uses it to find those rare critters you want to tame :)

Team has been online now 40,5 hours straight, and Poseidus haven't appeared yet .. Also it's uncached on all my NPCScan settings, only Loque'Nahak or whatever that is, is cached..
Some sources say, that Mobus is linked to Poseidus at some level.. but I don't buy it. They claim that Mobus (which is another rare) slain starts the Poseidus spawn timer, which can be anything from hour to infinity..

Hopefully seeing it before maintenance..

According to my friend it took him 6 days to get him to spawn.

I camped Gondria (for all 5 hunters), Skoll (for my main) and stuck an alt on Arcturis while my main went and did stuff. I don't feel bad at all, not even a little. I also don't feel bad when I can kill an outdoor elite that should take a group. I don't feel bad if I help a person that acidentally picked up a group of mobs instead of just one. I don't feel bad buffing or healing a person that needed it. Sometimes you get rewards, sometimes, you get to help out.

When it comes to such a mob as Poseidus, I was wondering..

You know when you mine a normal elementium deposit, it may spawn again as rich elementium or even pyrium deposit.. so I was thinking if this affects some rare mobs as well?

So killing normal seahorses may spawn Poseidus faster?

I was camping 52+ hours straight on all five known spawn points (with some help ofc, since I have a job and I sleep as well ^^), and then maintenance hit the realm, logged back later on, and there was no sign of cached Poseidus .. So the chances are that it doesn't spawn every week, or something triggers the spawn timer..
