As promised, here is another video (full run) through Old Hillsbrad. I have been working hard on the "run n gun" technique. Standing in one spot and getting ready for large groups is good in PVE, but if I ever plan on PVPing or preventing getting ganked by another large group, I had to think outside the box. I took some of the macro's on the forums here and mixed/matched til I had something that I think works quite well.

You will see some good mobility here and the ability to switch targets on the fly. The big crits were sort of sacrificed for defense, which I am working hard on now. Trying to get to 540 for Northrend dungeons. Editing still isn't the greatest, but I added a little music, so hopefully it plays well. Hope you guys enjoy!

very nice! Thought I would see a few deaths, but amazingly noone died. Thanks for the kind words. No, no one died...the last fight didn't record properly though (I can only record 5-6 minutes at a time using camstudio or it errors out), so I had to rerun the instance again to get it to record. That is why you see the difference in time in case anyone was wondering. :)

Trying to get to 540 for Northrend dungeons.

Just an FYI, Northrend dungeons only require 535 defense. Raids require 540.

No problem. Dungeon bosses max out at level 82 whereas raid bosses are 83, hence the differance.

Hey Fury, hows the Nexus treating you?

Anyway, how is the talent build you are running with treating you?

I was going to try one full Frost for better tanking and keep the rest Blood. Not having any trouble with it being all Blood, but debating what is going to happen
once I hit Nexus. Got sets of Cobalt waiting for me. Also, what are you using in your attack line up?

So far I keep it pretty simple, /startattack /castsequence reset=target Plague Strike, Icy Touch, Death Strike, Heart Strike, Heart Strike, Obliterate
But since you don't have Heart Strike, I guess you just do Death Strike and Blood Strike?

Hey Zero,

Things are going well. Before I got the cobalt set, I was working hard on trying to get everyone's defense up as high as possible. I got this trinket from a quest in Netherstorm: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30300 I also played around in Old Hillsbrad doing the first boss over and over to try and get as many of these rings as I could: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27436 I only ended up getting two for my main after a ton of runs =( There is another trinket I got from the 2nd boss of Shadowlabs: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27891

So my main's Defense is over 500 now. The biggest thing I have found is keeping your damage output equal amongst the group. If you get just one that is peaking a little higher than the others, he becomes the focus for everything, small groups or bosses, which is a bad thing. For Northrend so far, things are going well. I have cleared Nexus albeit the last boss. Got her to within 10%. Also cleared Utgarde Keepe except for the last boss too. Both of which I am super close on. Maybe next level I will go back just to prove a point, lol.

For attack sequence, I stopped doing macros. The reasoning why is if one gets stunned or the sequence gets off in any way, you are potentially losing 3-4 attacks before he gets back where he is supposed to be. I spam Icy Touch, Plague Strike, Blood Strike on 3 of my 5. In place of Blood Strike on the last 2, I put Pestilence in that slot. This allows me to spread the diseases to large groups so that the damage starts ticking right away. This works out well when grinding or doing instances. On bosses or where I know there wont be AOE to worry about, I take Pestilence back out and put Blood Strike back in.

I watch the runic power spamming these three, then when I am full, I start throwing the obliterates and death coils (works great for runners in pvp as well). With this technique my gargoyle (which I just got) is able to stay up for the full minute. I have been playing with the death pact a little too in case I am taking a ton of damage. Before boss fights I will summon early and for fights like Ingvar The Plunderer, between phase 1 and 2, I sac them with Death Pact (40% health) and resummon more pets. Usually my rune tap is on CD so I cant use it when I need it. Ice Bound Fortitude, Mark of Blood help for Phase 1.

For PVP - wow! That is all I can say. Killing Pallies before they can bubble or taking out level 80 warriors in 2 seconds is pretty comical. The other day when I was 72 walking into Utgarde, I killed 2-3 80's before the "group" knew what was going on. Even with an 8 level difference the guys held their own and actually stayed alive quite a long time before the group picked me off one by one. I need to start recording this stuff more. Anyways, here is what I think will be the optimal build for the DKs now that I have seen how everything is working out:

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=j0EMqcccobMZhZbg0I0fkhxso0o

You get the healing from Blood Aura (20% now - woot)
You still get Mark of Blood for the bosses and Vendetta (huge in a multi-kill w/boss scenario for healing)
Improved Icy Touch for ranged dmg
Full time pets w/increased strength and stamina (glyph them too for optimal results)
AMZ - you can literally time it with each guy so it never goes down on rotation (cant wait for this in PVE/PVP)
Gargoyle (stays up full minute if you spam IT, PS and BS/HS, conserving your Obliterates and Death Coils)
Desecration for increased dmg
Bone Shield (extra dmg/dmg shield)

Sort of a weird spec for a solo DK, but for boxing this is STRONG! If I get a chance, I will throw up another video soon of Nexus with the guys. Maybe I can take down the sloot of a boss at the end too =) Hope this helps.

Hey, cool, thanks for the info, I will see what I can do with it.

I know just a few minutes ago, I finished up Nexus (level 70, but could not kill the last boss) Just to much damage for me to handle with my current gear and level. I will go back in a level or 2 to see how it goes.
