Hi,

I'm new to the forums and have been Dualling with a few chars over the past few months. I'm wondering what your oppionions are on the best class to dual alongside a deathknight, primarily from 60-70, but also 70-80. I've considered a few options, an arcane mage for dps spam and quick transport, a paladin for general support etc.

What are your views on the ideal DK levelling companion?

I would choose a healer. I will be dual boxing my Priest and DK but think a Pally and DK would be even funner. I just cannot bring myself to play an elf. Shammy totems and heals are also good but may require a bit more management. Druid would probably be the easiest to manage as you Moonfire/Stack HoTs/wait for next mob really with priest being a close second. Just my opinion though, I would love to do DK/Pally if I could make an UD Pally some day... :D

It depends largely on spec, but Shadow Priest/DK could be quite effective imo. Although, I plan on using a DK in a group with either Mage and a Shaman or Warlocks and a healer. (Shaman or Priest)

I will most likely use the DK with a mix group for myself, I am thinking I will level it with a Druid, lock, lock, shaman. So I got hots and chain heals with that set up.

If I where to duo it, maybe a balance non boomking druid so it can heal and dps with no issues, and hot up the DK as well as with the DK spells he can heal himself for the most part.

What better than more of the same! But seriously, for dual boxing, I'd want at least one of them capable of rezzing, and healing, even if not specced for it. Paladin would be hard to box as anything other than a healbot, but they're durable, good single target healers, etc. Priest/Druid/Shaman can be more useful, any spec will work fine, just macro in some dps squences, and heal when necessary.

I'm at least gonna create 6 Dks for the fun of it :) though I will most likely only be leveling one. It'd be nice to have another tank, already have a 70 pally tank, and a 52 druid i was gonna spec feral. I have 4 healers, and 3 teams of DPS (mages shaman warlocks) and a few other randoms.

When my DK gets to outland, I will at least have him followed by 5 shaman, and I'll just do the quests twice (the kill ones are easy, and the named ones respawn so fast, I usually had to kill them 3-4 times anyway) I'll probably end up subbing out a shaman at a time for instances, run the place 5x, so each one sits out one run. The DK will get more exp that way, but that's fine. I have that 52 druid I can use to catch the shaman back up :)

I'm gonna dual log a holydin, mostly because for the really hard stuff, you want a real healer(elite quests and stuff), and a healer lets you AE more mobs which makes leveling faster too. Paladin is a pretty solid choice because they provide BoM which is probably one of the biggest dps increase a DK can get, crusader aura for travelling saving you 2points from Pale Horse, an almost all purpose dispel for all these annoying debuffs, the biggest single target helaing output even when not paying much attention and it works fine in PvP too since you can't just bubble the paladin to ensure a period of heal spam, and dispel any CCs/give freedom for snares/roots.

They're not very good for DPS obviously, but you can at least macro Holy Shock linked to all your DK strikes, so you'll shoot it every 6secs(if you can maintain it on mana, unsure), it's not great but the support aspect is good enough, and you can use an addon to autorefresh seals when they're down, and judge too. Another good choice is shaman, with stuff like bloodlust and windfury, and the fact you can easily add DPS by using lighting bolts/chain lightings and shocks. I didn't like some aspects of it however, so I'm going paladin myself. Priest and Druid I guess are also decent, but they offer the least in terms of support, and all the group healing tools are close to worthless when dual logging.

I think adding a DPS is not very useful, you're not gonna level any faster with a DPS and a DK because DKs are leveling machines, so they're already at the top of the food chain for solo leveling. Adding a DPS, even assuming you can get 100% out of it(BM hunter for example), will still be much slower than simply soloing, and it won't open a lot more content because even blood speced, a DK can have issue against some elites, especially before level cap and good gear.
