Hi guys,
Just signed up and have been reading through all the posts.
I'm the resto shaman that 'heals' the Tilce team, atm, i have 3xs4 and 2xs2. I have 428 resi (soon to be 453 with the new epic medalliion, which will be about my max i think) i also have 1780 healing. Although i'm not a boxer myself, wondered if i might ninja a post as i have a few questions...
Ok firstly, for all those with shaman healers, do you go for the conventional pvp build? 00/20/41? or have people tried other talent builds and found them to work any beter/worse?
I'm sure Tilce won't mind me saying that we REALLY struggle with heavy melee teams, either 2 warriors and a rogue, or 2 rogues and a warrior and we might as well go afk...
I start the game with the earth shield around myself (giving away that i'm the healer i guess) does anyone use a water shield instead? or earth shield one of the boxers? If the team has a rogue or two, then my game basically consists of.... cheap shot, kick, stun, blind, kick, cheap shot, Dead!
I've literally healed 87k some games, and 4k another and it's really annoying. X(
I'm not gonna dribble on all day about all of our encounters, but basically, a stun locked healer and a warrior putting MS on everyone....need i say more? Is there anything that the healers do especially to counter all the abuse?
btw i have a pally at 65, soon to be 70. How do people rate pally healers to shaman healers?

xDIs he standing behind you, are you giving him support heals through the kicks/stuns, is he trying to LoS?
I run with a disc priest (much squishier) and we find the melee teams, in general, who focus him to be no problem at all. He basically parks himself in front of me, we wait for the incoming, I bloodlust + lhw him until he's at a safe health point, and then take out a melee on him, rinse/repeat. All the while, he's doing the "Wonder Woman Spinning Heal" while getting pummelled and kicked, he MAY get a renew out, but it'll be dispelled. It's my job to keep him alive in those situations until the dps is more manageable (i.e. when their cooldowns have passed, once they've burned all their torrents/war stomps/rapid fires/icy veins/bloodlusts/heroisms/shamanistic rages/berserk/slice and dice etc. etc.).
Give us some more details on how your melee fights are going?

I cant agree with the topic. I dont need an extra healer in arena :)

lol, well, its ur partners duty to nuke the warrior and put preasure on rogues, ur job is to heal, not to be superman and heal what u cant heal. they gotta go down in a matter of seconds, and ur partners must know that, RIGHT TIZER ? :D
Tizer can and must be able to LHW spamm himself and u, drop fire novas, and make preasure on their healers. After the warrior, u can try the rogue, and after that go for healers! nuke their ass's!
Tizer, got Elemental Shields on ur tree? i recently changed to 3/3 Elemental shields, giving up spell hit rating and putting just 1 point in unrelenting storm. u'll adapt urself, make sure u got 3% spell hit. Elemental shields helps a lot against heavy melee teams!
Another one: u guys all same race and gender? If so, play along and always be togheter, make them crazy. go ghost wolf and just stack togheter :P
As for Paladins, they must be the best healers against heavy melee teams. why ? Concentration aura makes ur partner cast better, and BOP is a life savior.
hope it helps.

Drop the shaman for the pally imo. Bubbles are pretty sweet in 5's against rushes. As a pally you can bait them and you won't have to hide hoping for your boxer to save your butt and allowing him to focus more on the targets rather than healing. If they are trying to focus you, they should be like shooting fish in a barrel for your boxer. If they try to focus him, you have BoProtection to lighten the load. You want to make sure your 4boxer knows that you're no strangers to arena. You know the rules and so does he. A full commitment's what you're thinking of. He wouldn't get this from any other healer. You should just want tell him how you're feeling. Gotta make him understand. Never gonn give up. Never gonna let him down. Never gonna run around and get insta giiiiiibbed.

1 good rule of thumb against melee heavy teams is : get that stoneskin totem down!
Ive tried arena with some different healers, and what i find the most helpfull is COMMUNICATION.
That 1 word "silenced", followed by LHW from all shammys on the enemies target = win.
And "heal, im LoS." or ANY communication is sooo frikking important.
I've lost so many matches because my healer has not communicated problems, 5second silence on my healer is more than enough to nuke 1 of my pants down but not if i know about it.
Also another tip against melee teams, shammy>warrior>rogue and if there are 2warriors start with purge on the first to charge in, then switch target and go all out.
When they start to run, you drop fire novas, then heroism/bloodlust.
The healer ive played the most with knows how to complete my needs from a healer, getting those spellreflects and grounding totems for me.
And having an insane overview of the battlefield (wich i dont have in the heat of battle) and relaying that information to me fast.
A pally healer is very nice, as they are considered tough, but they are pretty easy to lock down.

I do have a hotkey that will spam Spynx with Lesser heals on all toons and it works well.
Tweaked a few macros after last nights arenas in which we climbed up to 1600 then back down to 1550 before we called it a night :x
150 games under our belts now (i would say 50/60 of which were done in the gearing up phase), the win / loss ratio is sitting at 50/50 so still keeping our heads above water.
My gear is pretty decent now so there is no excuse for not being able to do it, its just practice practice practice. Although that said, im tempted to update my gfx card so i can increase the screensizes of all toons a little more. Going to push my machine a little tonight, see what its capable of.
Its still fkin stupid how we do some games with people who have S3 shoulders and are ranked in the 1500 bracket still, wtf have they been doing :x
One thing i have picked up on in recent games is that fact that i seem far less 'mobile' than some of the games i've seen Ellay play. Hes on the move a lot more and circles around a lot ensuring his toons are on follow etc. I think that is something that comes with practice and confidence.

guess it has more to do with what ur opponents skill is. after getting 1724 i went down to 1660 or something, due the the fact that they know how to apply cc, move around and use los. after 1550 u get 10% possibility that ur opponents comes rushing u and/or they take the starting attack. faced 3 times the same team, that i couldnt get them to come out of their pillar, and managed to attract me to strange places, like under BEM's bridge... anyways, i got the pieace i wanted, s4 chest, and from now on, every game is a final. we will fight where i want, not where they want, thats for sure. worst part is when they are tottally geared, using veng weapons, gear, and dont know nothing else than LOS LOS LOS LOS. it's the LOS game now.

Thanks for all the replys guys.
We put some of these tips into practice last night, and although we ended up with around a 50/50 ratio it definately felt like we were 'getting there'
I dont think we got completely owned by anybody for a change, every fight was either us kicking butt, or them scraping a win from us.....(which is still pretty annoying, but meh)
anyway, another healer/gear related question....
Atm, i am using the pvp trinket and the Vial of the sunwell for a 2k insta heal (and 15mp5) would people/do people use anything different? The vial is useful but it's obviously affected by MS....
And just to repeat one of my first questions really....do your healing shammy's go with the 00/20/41 build? or do you sacrifice some toughness/dodge etc for better chain heals, or a quicker big healing wave?

I'd go as far as hiding your presence by putting yourself on follow at the start and ay earth shield is a nono at the start :S it's just such an agro magnet.. once they establish that you are the healer and need to take you down then move in front of the mob, and draw them away from the group (not too far.. only a couple of paces)
and don't worry about heavy melee (3+) teams beating you.. it's almost inevitable >.< although I would say make sure you have at least two poison cleansing totems down

Cool, i think i'll try that. The general rule seems to be to try to get the melee to charge me so the boxer can nuke, while trying to not look like a healer 8o
I think we have a pretty decent totem farm at the start, which is normally 4xgrounding and 1xWoA, 4 tremor and an earthbind, (although i think we'll try a stoneskin in there next time), 4 poison and a mana, and 4 magma and a searing......any comments?
We are doing our best to BL, purge and lay Nova totems at the start, but ofc it can get a bit hectic ^^
we are slowly getting there though. Thx for all the input as always ;)

Ok, i've finally levelled my pally healer to 70 and will soon be swapping him in instead of my shaman to heal my boxing buddy.
I've never healed as a pally before of course, so have a few questions for some of you more experienced guys.
1 - What sort of resillience, +healing and +crit do i need before i can start healing in the arena properly? (my shaman is 428 res and 1800 healing....i guess i can go with less resillience as a pally?)
2 - Is there a standard pvp build (as with shaman) for the arena? and if so what is it? i've asked for some advice from some guildies, and they posted the following, which i guess is a normal 5v5 or bg build:
http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/ba...00000000000000 ('http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/ba...00000000000000')
Now, i'm assuming that there's a slightly different build setup when healing a boxing team, and again i've been given the following as an idea. There are still 3 points to take and i was wondering what to put them in? Imp conc aura, or hammer of justice? or even 2 in stoicism and 1 in pure heart maybe?
http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/ba...00000000000000 ('http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/ba...00000000000000')
Any advice/opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Thx

Improved concentration aura is THE most important talent for you.
Edit: Concentration aura is the only reason I don't use another healing class with more utility. I would love to have priest aoe fear or druid root/cyclone/stun.. but concentration aura is just so good.

Heals in arena?! thats insanity!! That would slow down the time my 10 losses take every week:)

Triple Melee teams are a lot easier when using a Paladin because they can take the hits better and has a BoP to use. Try to Peel the rogues off the healer. Depending on their CC sometimes it is better to spread your characters out (only happens usually on really good teams)

If you are all shammys then make a /follow on his main aswell and have that on in the start so you basicly look like one of his shammys. Some teams will fall for this for sure. and dont notice you as a solo guys healing. Maybe even do Earth shild on one of his alt in the start.. so he gets the focuse..
I have a mate that is curantly lvling up a shammy with the same name as my shammys for 5v5 in expansion. We will use the /follow tacktick and then ofc he have the same name so it will be even harder to pick him out form the grp.
But its true.. with full CC/stuns on you, non can expect you do be able to heal a whole 5v5 team. So your mate ahve to learn when he have to suport you and when he are free to nuke ppl down :D

Ok, got the pally levelled now and am currently gearing it up...
I can really see the potential of a paladin healer..... the fast big heals, the bubble, the stun, the aoe 2 second silence (blood elf)....Judgement of Justice on the druids and shammys, to name but a few :D
Just a question really to all those teams out there.....Does anybody actually have any success at all with a shaman healer???
My shaman is geared to look exactly the same as the boxers i'm with,(and i have 1800 healing and 450 res) but it only takes 1 game (or less :D) for them to figure out i'm the healer and keep me locked down. There's only so much constant healing my boxer can do before he kinda has to dps something.....
We had a terrible run last week. It started out promising though, we won about 6 in a row, then came up against a team that kept owning us. And i mean that in every sense of the word..... I can't explain how frustrating it is to have a warrior MS 2 characters, while the rogue just stuns me to death.....then the warrior pummels, the rogue kicks, cheap shot, kidney punch, pummel, blind......etc etc etc
And honestly no matter what we did, we just couldn't get the team down (Druid, warrior, 2 hunters and a rogue if i remember) and we lost about 10 games (started by losing 17 points to them, and ended up losing about 6 per game)
Anyway..... I was so frustrated by the end that we actually played 1 game with my paladin (1200 healing, 100 res....7k hp!) and some how owned them ?(
I stood there spamming my puny 1k heals and BoP'd their target when it was at about 20% health and for some reason they didn't even touch me at all?? I mean, i didn't even have to bubble or anything! Do teams just see a paladin and think 'they are invinsible, don't waste your time trying to nuke his 7k hp'
I guess my point is (after all this rambling) is that i can see the real potential with my pally once it's fully geared.... Do people find when healing 4 elemental shaman with a paladin, the paladin is pretty much left alone?
And my main question is...... Has anyone actually achieved a decent rating with a shaman healer? (our highest is 1647)
thanks for reading

We won that last game coz i got the druid unaware while he was pissing about in cat form taking down totems :) Then i got aggressive and moved in on the hunters and stopped the shaman rezing.
Cocky fuckers they were and really hard to take down. 2 hunters with bloodlust on my main shaman was tough to heal through when im also trying to dps :/
